A mashal - parable -is a powerful way to impart a message. The Sages said: Never take a mashal lightly, for it is through a mashal that one can grasp and understand the teachings of the Torah.
This is a collection of parables, translated from the popular Hebrew work, Sha'arei Armon. They are arranged in the sequence of the High Holy Day prayers, beginning with the Selichos of Elul, through the closing words of Ne'ilah, and they are sure to help open our hearts and light our path to repentance.
