Amalek may be understood as the formative force behind human consciousness which reached its pinnacle in modernity; the modern separation between body and spirit, interior and exterior, between subject and object. This separation has torn asunder what once was a deep connection between the internal certainty of faith and the critical, even agnostic reflex. This fissure has troubled the once smooth path of belief. Modern consciousness itself is the source of modern doubt regarding faith and the modern rebellion against the world of faith.
